Trauma Focused Interventions and Culture

Professional Development / Relicensure Week -
2024-25 Professional Development

Educators are on the front lines of identifying children suffering from the impact of trauma and often feel the brunt of the challenges and pain traumatized children carry with them. The presentation will provide information on identifying symptoms of trauma and use a trauma-informed perspective. The ACEs study will be briefly discussed and the discussion will introduce the audience to ways in which they can use the findings of the study to inform their teaching practice and to create a trauma-informed culture in the classroom and educational environment. Presentation will include practical interventions for challenging behaviors that are helpful for both students with and without trauma. This training meets the "Cultural Competency: Individuals with Disabilities and Mental Health concerns" category for licensure. This virtual training is being facilitated by Scott County Mental Health Services.
