Attend this virtual training to learn about why students resist reading and what leads to reading reluctance. You will learn what strategies, tools and instructional materials help students enjoy reading and why pleasure reading is such a crucial activity in education. This course applies towards the reading preparation relicensure requirement.

Learn the three steps anyone can take to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training program in the United States, and more than one million adults have been trained in classroom settings in 48 states. This 1.5 hour virtual class is for members of the community over the age of 16 who want to learn best practices in suicide prevention. This class meets requirements for the suicide prevention training needed for Minnesota teacher relicensure. Presented by: Renee Labat, NAMI MN

As a youth worker and educator, anything you can do to ensure your own program space is welcoming and safe for Indigenous youth will help reduce their risk for negative outcomes. An inclusive space, representing Indigenous culture and inviting connection with traditions and community, contributes to a much-needed and vital sense of belonging. This virtual training will help you incorporate Indigenous culture into your work. You will develop confidence to create culturally inclusive programming and encourage supportive dialogue. You’ll learn how to draw on Indigenous tradition and culture to better support young people of various tribal connections in your program spaces. You’ll learn about various tools and activity examples you can use. This session meets the Cultural Competency and American Indian History and Culture relicensure requirements.
