  • Social Work Ethics with Dr. Karen Goodenough

Ethics Under Pressure: Finding Clarity in Challenging School Environments 3 CEUs (2 Ethics, 1 Cultural Responsiveness) Description: The work of school social workers calls for both compassion and courage—especially when the ground feels unsteady. In this engaging session, we’ll explore how to stay centered amid organizational trauma, shifting roles, and the unknown. Together we’ll deepen our understanding of FERPA and consent boundaries, practice applying a clear ethical decision-making model, and discover ways to build unity across siloed teams. Walk away with renewed confidence, shared language, and strategies to focus on what you can control while maintaining balance in the face of change. Dr. Karen E. Goodenough, PhD, MSW, LGSW (she/her), known as Dr. KG, is Executive Director of NASW-MN and a national leader in social work licensure policy. With a background in direct practice, nonprofit leadership, and macro social work, she brings decades of experience as a trainer, supervisor, and advocate. Dr. KG chairs the NASW Licensure Task Force, serves on the Social Work Interstate Compact Commission, and is deeply committed to advancing the profession through data-informed, values-driven leadership. Dr. KG is also active in her northern Minnesota community, serving on local boards and coaching the Pine River-Backus High School Cheer Team.
