This course will discuss the fundamental principles involved in the diagnosis and management of auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD) in the pediatric population. The course will address the following specific topics: clinical and behavioral presentation of ANSD, sites of lesion, risk and genetic factors of ANSD, associated disorders, diagnostic testing procedures, variations in presentation, management strategies, hearing aid and cochlear implant candidacies and outcomes. Clinical cases will be provided and discussed to illustrate the diagnostic and management procedures. Specific information related to parental education will be reviewed.
